Public Health Nurse I or II
Public health nursing is a specialty practice within nursing and public health. It focuses on improving population health by emphasizing prevention and the social determinants. It includes advocacy, policy development, and health planning, and addresses issues of social justice and health equity (American Public Health Association, 2013).
The primary scope of work includes coordinating the Children with Medical Handicaps Program by conducting home visits, assessments, link to care and resources, and providing health education. Additionally the Public Health Nurse will assist in communicable disease investigation and control, vaccination clinics, and other emerging health issues.
