COVID-19 trends have remained the same as last week. Butler County is still in high transmission and high community levels.
This means wearing a mask while in-doors regardless of vaccination status is recommended. It is also recommended that everyone stay up-to-date with their COVID-19 immunizations, and that those who are at high risk for severe complications or have loved ones at high risk for severe complications due to COVID-19 infection be cautious in regards to social settings.

Summary of new COVID-19 quarantine and isolation guidance
On Thursday August 11, CDC updated their community guidance. The updated guidance now states that in the majority of scenarios, quarantine is no longer recommended except in high risk categories. Isolation requirements for those that are currently sick are still in effect.
What is already known about COVID-19 in the U.S.?
- High levels of immunity and availability of effective COVID-19 prevention and management tools have reduced the risk for medically significant illness and death.
What is the new guidance for quarantine and isolation?
- To prevent severe COVID-19 illness and death, persons must understand their risk.
- Take steps to protect themselves and others with vaccines, therapeutics, and non pharmaceutical interventions when needed.
- Receive testing and wear masks when exposed, receive testing if symptomatic.
- Infected persons may end isolation after 5 days, only when they are without a fever for at least 24 hours without the use of medication and all other symptoms have improved, and they should continue to wear a mask or respirator around others at home and in public through day 10.
