Week Three of Vaccine Distribution in Butler County

BUTLER COUNTY, OHIO – Phase 1A of COVID-19 vaccine distribution continues for the third week in Butler County. Hospitals received doses first, and began vaccinating their workforce. Contracted pharmacies have begun to vaccinate long term care staff and residents. Last week, BCGHD received their first vaccine and got it out to Emergency Medical Service (EMS) workers as soon as it was received. The efforts continue this week.

The Butler County General Health District (BCGHD) received a limited amount of the vaccine last week and quickly began distributing it to organizations within Phase 1A of Ohio’s Vaccination Program for which they are responsible.

Jennifer Bailer Health Commissioner for BCGHD says, “The Ohio Department of Health determines how many vaccines each county receives. The amount we receive depends on how much is allocated to Ohio from the federal level - and that depends on the manufacturers. The supply chain determines how quickly the vaccine can get out.”

As more vaccine doses are produced and become available for other priority groups, we will collect information on those groups at that time.

“Phase 1A is a very large group of people, and it will take public health some time to work through vaccinating this group,” says Bailer. “The vaccine is coming to us only in small amounts right now. We hope that the supply will increase as time goes on. Please be patient.”
