Butler County General Health District Offers Access to all COVID-19 Vaccines

BUTLER COUNTY, OHIO – Following Wednesdays announcement of the statewide “Ohio Vax-a-Million,” five consecutive weekly drawings with a prize of up to 1 million dollars, Butler County General Health District (BCGHD) will begin offering access to all three of the COVID-19 vaccines (Moderna, Pfizer, and Johnson & Johnson) in one convenient location.

With the recent approval of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for children 12-17 years old, BCGHD will able to offer the two-shot series to anyone 12 years and older. Instead of a chance to win a million dollars, Ohioans 17 and under will be entered into five drawings for a full, four-year scholarship to any of Ohio's state colleges and universities, including full tuition, room and board, and books. The first winners will be announced May 26, 2021.

“In addition to being entered into five drawings for a chance at a million dollars, everyone who receives a vaccine through public health will get a $20 off coupon to participating Butler County restaurants,” says Jennifer Bailer, Health Commissioner for the BCGHD. Participants who get vaccinated by local public health clinics (BCGHD, Cities of Hamilton or Middletown Health Departments) will be given the coupon immediately after the shot is administered. The date in which coupon distribution will begin is TBD.

“Funded by the BC Cares Initiative, this is a win-win for the entire community! It stimulates growth and opportunity for our businesses, while also keeping our residents safe, healthy and protected from COVID. This is good for everyone,” states Bailer.

Offering all of the COVID-19 vaccines will begin Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at BCGHD clinics. Appointments are encouraged but NOT required. Drive-thru clinics are held at the Butler County Fairgrounds every Wednesday and Friday. Due to a previously scheduled event at the Fairgrounds, a vaccine clinic will not take place on May 28, 2021, nor during the Butler County Fair.

Along with efforts at the Fairgrounds, BCGHD is dispatching “strike team,” to any business, church, community center, factory, manufacturer, school or homebound individuals.

In addition, BCGHD officials are utilizing the Ohio Opportunity Index to identify and coordinate vaccine clinics in the areas within the county that experience elevated vulnerabilities, like low access to healthcare services.

“If you have not yet had a chance to get vaccinated, there is no time like the present for making the most of a shot. We would love to see a Butler County resident get a four year scholarship or win a million dollars! At the very least, you can save money at one of our great Butler County restaurants,” states Bailer.
